The SAFE Program is a voluntary, independent, industry-designed program for conducting audits of suppliers (“Suppliers”) of food ingredients, packaging and co- manufacturing services to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of food industry audits. magic-valley-frozen-GMA-certified“The GMA works closely with our members to ensure that consumers continue to have access to safe, quality and affordable products. We have a multi-pronged approach when it comes to product safety. First, the association has taken a leadership role in the development and promotion of comprehensive food safety initiatives that would adopt prevention as the cornerstone of our nation’s food safety strategy, raise the food safety bar for all manufacturers and provide the FDA with the resources and authorities it needs to conduct its food safety mission and protect public health. In addition, GMA plays a vital role in helping its member companies produce safe food and comply with federal, state and local regulations. The association has a comprehensive food safety education and training program for member companies and also operates a first-class food safety laboratory to assist member companies with regulatory compliance and incident diagnosis. Finally, when it comes to product safety, GMA works closely with its member companies to understand the impact of chemicals used in food and consumers products. We also work closely with Congress, FDA, USDA and other stakeholders to create fair policies and regulations that will keep consumers safe from potentially harmful chemicals.”
